About
Our Name
Many ask about our name or question how to say "Gennesaret." The name Gennesaret (pronounced jen-NES-sah-ret) comes from the New Testament Bible book of Mark 6:52-56 which describes a scene along the west crescent shore of the Sea of Galilee. This narrow strip of land, with cliffs rising on one side and the sea on the other, was where Jesus was to walk. The nearby villagers anticipating his presence brought their sick relatives and laid them on cots along the path. It was their hope and faith that if even the fringe of His robe touched their loved ones that they would be healed.
We at Gennesaret Free Clinic have faith that as we reach out to those on the fringe of society that we may experience with our clients healing as those did thousands of years ago.
