Tawana has been with Gennesaret Free Clinics for more than four years after having earned her Master’s in Human Services. In her role, Tawana oversees the daily operation of the HRH’s, referral process and case management. As a Black woman, Tawana is committed to her work at Gennesaret due to the health disparities and poorer health outcomes for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). BIPOC remain the least healthy ethnic group in the United States due to racial and social injustice and challenge to equitable healthcare for all. Tawana views herself as a part of the solution, moving the needle on health and economic outcomes one patient at a time.
According to Tawana, she believes the human services field chose her. Tawana loves helping people and giving back to her community. In using her gifts, Tawana can empower and challenge individuals to soar past their adversity and achieve their personal goals, helping amplify the voices of those who otherwise will not be heard. As patients achieve their personal goals, Tawana helps empower them to achieve economic mobility, providing the necessary support they need as they can to become housing stable, employed, and healthy. In her free time, Tawana enjoys spending quality time with her husband and four children, traveling, and enjoying family dinners.
