REFLECTING ON 2024: A YEAR OF TRANSFORMATION AND IMPACT
As we look back on Fiscal Year 2024 (October 1, 2023 – September 30, 2024), Gennesaret Free Clinics celebrates a year marked by significant growth, unwavering commitment, and profound community impact. Under the leadership of our new Executive Director, Milele P. Kennedy, PHA, we have embraced innovative strategies to enhance healthcare accessibility and address the social determinants of health within Central Indiana. This post will review key findings from our 2024 Impact Report.
EXPANDING OUR REACH
- Medical Clinics: 959 patients received primary and preventive care through 1,579 visits.
- Dental Clinic: 356 individuals benefited from essential dental services through 751 visits.
- Women’s Health Services: 203 women received 481 services provided, including 222 breast diagnostic services.
- Mobile Medical Clinic: 499 patients received care through 826 services, bringing healthcare directly to underserved areas.
- Health Recovery Homes: 66 residents found refuge and medical respite, with an average stay of 60 days, facilitating recovery and stability.
ADDRESSING CHRONIC HEALTH CHALLENGES
Chronic disease management remained a focal point, accounting for 33.5% of patient visits. Notably, 31.8% of patients over 55 were diagnosed with hypertension. Through our Hypertension Clinic in partnership with Purdue University’s CHEQI Program, patients experienced clinically significant reductions in blood pressure after just one visit, highlighting the effectiveness of targeted interventions.
SERVING HISTORICALLY MEDICALLY UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS
- Homelessness: At least 16% of our patients were experiencing homelessness at the time of care. Remarkably, we served 24% of Indianapolis’s unhoused population in 2024, based on the IHCDA 2024 Point-in-Time Count.
- Diversity: 79% of our patients reported belonging to racial or ethnic minority groups, with 36% identifying as Latino, reflecting our dedication to serving diverse communities. In comparison, only 42% of Indianapolis residents identified as a racial or ethnic minority, according to 2022 Census data.
We are dedicated to serving individuals who are disproportionately impacted by systemic inequities. Our mission is to address these disparities and ensure equitable access to quality healthcare for all.

STORIES OF HOPE AND RESILIENCE
Behind every number is a story of resilience, strength, and hope. These figures are not just statistics—they represent real human beings. Each carries a story of struggle and triumph, creating a ripple effect of positivity that extends far beyond the individual, strengthening our entire community.
Take Antowne (bottom), a former Health Recovery Home resident, whose journey exemplifies the power of compassion and support. In 2024, he faced one of life’s greatest challenges—battling cancer. He was living on the streets at the time of his diagnosis. But with unwavering determination and the help of our program, he completed his radiation treatments and emerged victorious. More than just surviving, Antowne took the next step toward rebuilding his life, and moved into his very own apartment. His story is proof that when we provide care, dignity, and opportunity, we don’t just change one life—we ignite a chain reaction of transformation that uplifts us all.
